1. Umaid Bhavan Palace & Museum

Umaid Bhawan Palace is a royal palace on Chittar Hill in Jodhpur. Also known as Chittar Palace, it is considered the world’s most elegant and stunning architecture. Often described as the Taj Mahal of Marwar, this marble memorial was built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singhjill of Jodhpur by his son Maharaja Sardar Singhji. Today, Jaswant Thada is managed and looked after by the Mehrangarh Museum Trust (MMT) and is open to the public. 

The Trust operates a Museum in Jaswant Thada displaying portraits of Marwar rulers and informative teachings. Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park extends across 70 hectares, with about 200 acres of rocky land surrounding Mehrangarh Fort. It was created in 2006 to restore the natural ecology of rocky wasteland.

7. Umed Garden Zoo

Maharaja Umed Singh built Umed Garden, named after its builder himself. Situated at a distance of 1.5 kilometres from Jodhpur Junction and 4 kilometres from Mehrangarh Fort, Umed Garden Zoo is one of the top gardens in Jodhpur. 

The garden is over 82 acres and has lush green lawns with seasoned flowers. It comprises, within its boundaries, museums, aesthetically designed water fountains, a library with a range of ancient and modern books, and a zoo with a walk-in aviary. 

The zoo inside the garden boasts a range of regional and national animal species, including tigers, bears, monkeys, zebras, lions and more. At the same time, the aviary accommodates birds from different parts of the world. All species are kept in their natural habitats. 

8. Sardar Government Museum

The Jodhpur Stepwell, known as Toorji Ka Jhalra, or Toorji’s Step Well, is one of the city’s most impressive wells and a relic of Jodhpur’s architectural history. Built by the queen-consort of Maharaja Abhaya Singh, this architectural wonder represents the region’s age-old tradition where royal women oversaw the public water works. 

This 250-year-old structure uses the famous rose-red sandstone found in Jodhpur. More than 200 feet in depth, it was once adorned with intricate carvings of dancing elephants, mediaeval lions, cow waterspouts, and niches that showed various deities. It is one of the few remaining structures depicting Jodhpur’s traditional water management systems.

10. Kaylana Lake
